11 Mar Addionics Plans $400M Investment for U.S. Next-Gen Plant
Addionics, a pioneer in advanced battery technologies, has unveiled plans for a massive $400 million investment in U.S. manufacturing facilities. This strategic initiative aims to revolutionize domestic EV battery production and meet the surging demand for high-performance batteries.
The investment will facilitate the production of 3D copper foils, a critical component for EV batteries, with a capacity to support a staggering 90GWh of battery output annually. This marks a significant leap forward in U.S. copper foil production, addressing a crucial gap in the market. Addionics is undergoing due diligence for up $50 million in U.S. Inflation Reduction Act grants for the first phase, which will cost $120 million.
With the first plant slated to commence operations in 2027, Addionics is poised to become a key player in the U.S. EV battery landscape. Subsequent phases of the multi-factory plan are expected to be completed by 2032, further augmenting domestic battery manufacturing capabilities.
Dr. Moshiel Biton, CEO and Co-Founder of Addionics, emphasized the importance of scaling up battery production to meet industry demands. He stated, “Manufacturing cost-effective high-performance batteries at scale is paramount for the EV industry. Our new U.S. facility will play a pivotal role in accelerating the production of next-generation batteries.”
Udi Chatow, VP of Manufacturing at Addionics, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the alignment of Addionics’ mission with the needs of U.S. automakers. “The gap between market demand and domestic battery production is widening,” Chatow remarked. “We are committed to bridging this divide and enabling the widespread adoption of EVs.”
Addionics’ groundbreaking Smart 3D Current Collectors™ have already set a new industry standard for battery technology. Offering superior energy density, enhanced power output, rapid charging capabilities, and extended lifespan—all at a reduced cost—these innovations are poised to revolutionize the EV landscape.
As Addionics embarks on this transformative journey, the stage is set for a paradigm shift in the EV industry, heralding a future powered by sustainable, high-performance batteries.
