Long-term Auto Industry Veteran and China Market Expert Announces the Launch of Automobility Ltd, a Co-Innovation Platform to Drive the Future of Mobility

Shanghai, China—September 18, 2017

Bill Russo, a veteran of over 30 years in the Automotive industry, with over 13 years of experience in China, today announces the creation of Automobility Ltd – a strategy and investment advisory firm – that will enable its clients to profitably engage in China’s Automobility Revolution.  Mr. Russo has been the Managing Director at Gao Feng Advisory Company, and previously served as the Vice President of Chrysler Group’s North East Asia business.

China’s unique urban transportation challenges, high rate of adoption of mobile internet services, and rapid and aggressive introduction of alternative mobility solutions have combined to make the country a fertile ground for mobility innovation.  Mobility needs, previously satisfied through product “ownership”, are increasingly being served through mobility services “usership” with profound implications not only for traditional businesses within the value chain, but also for new entrants – as they compete to deliver services.

“Traditional automakers must widen their focus from the product (the automobile) to the utility derived from the product (automobility), and create a business model and digital ecosystem optimized to provide digitally enabled solutions for both car owners and mobility services users, and we intend to assist start-ups, investors, and corporations on building their automobility solutions platforms”, said Mr. Russo.

Bevin Jacob will join Automobility Ltd as Co-Founder and Partner, to steer the development of the Investment Advisory business.  Mr. Jacob was most recently the Head of Business Development for the Asia Pacific region in Continental AG’s Intelligent Transportation Systems group.

The new “automobility” business model is enabled with technology that bridges the connected automobile (physical internet of mobility) with smart mobility services (digital internet of mobility).  The focus of Automobility Ltd is to help clients build a robust ecosystem through collaborative innovation in the areas of On-Demand, Intelligent, and Personalized Mobility.
